My kids

Gosh, I have the best kids in the world! I know we all think that, but there are days that I look at them and they smile at me and I know that God has truly blessed me. How did I get so lucky? Zachary has been really into giving kisses lately. What's funny is that they are open mouth, slobbery wet kisses. So cute. I know I will miss them someday! It's like pulling teeth to get Joshua to give kisses anymore. I know it's his age, but come on, I'm his mom!

Spring break is next week. We're looking for some fun things to do as a family. It's supposed to be 60-62 on Sun and Mon, but unfortunately they are calling for rain! Hope they are wrong! We do plan a trip to Fort Wayne to see family and friends later in the week. Can't wait. I miss my mom. She was in Hawaii for a week and not being able to talk to her on a daily basis like I am used to drove me nuts! Never know how much you need them, til they are not around!

Spring finally arriving??

The temperature here today is supposed to reach 60 degrees. I look forward to getting the boys outside to play for a bit.

We are adjusting to a life without Rosie. Sammy seems depressed, just lays around and sleeps. I feel bad for her, as her whole world has been turned upside down. She hates being put in the cage alone and shows her frustrations!

Joshua has written a story about our loss of Rosie, I am glad he finds ways to express his thoughts. He frequently tells me that he is thinking about Rosie and he misses her.

Happy spring!

A sad day for our family

One of our beloved dogs, Rosie, passed away this morning. She has been ill for several years and we have done everything we felt we could do, including surgery and medication on a daily basis. We found out yesterday that she was in complete liver failure and that we might have been able to buy her some time, but it was inevitable. So we made a very difficult decision and put her to sleep so that she was no longer in pain or suffering. Gary and I were with her and I held her. It was so peaceful and our vet staff was wonderful. We now begin our new life with just Sammy (who is doing her own mourning). Sammy has never known life without Rosie. Joshua, though mourning also, is glad to know that she is in heaven and doesn't hurt anymore or have to take anymore medicine. Please keep us all in your prayers as we mourn the loss of a loving family member.

Add influenza to the list of illnesses

Both of the boys have influenza, so much for the flu shot! Zachary's symptoms started Sat with extreme fussiness and wanting to be held all the time. Then Sunday night he got a fever. This postponed his scheduled 1 year old vaccines. Then for the past day or two, Joshua has complained of headaches off and on. Today the school nurse called and said he has a fever of 102.5. So off to school we go to bring home another sick youngin! Funny thing is, Daddy is off the next two days to be home with Zachary so I can get some school clinicals done. Guess he gets to have sick kid fun instead of me!

Ah, what a year!

Well, yesterday marked the official one year date of Zachary's arrival in our daily lives! We can hardly believe he is 1! What a year of trials and fun he has given us. We love him so much and treasure each smile, laugh, and kiss (slobbery or not!). As we are celebrating our baby's first birthday, a patient's family is facing the possible loss of their 3 year old little girl. Please keep Reece and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Can I just say that congenital heart defects stink!

Doctor day for Zachary

We started our Monday morning out with 2 back to back doctor appointments. The first was to see the lung doctor, Dr. Sufi. Because Zachary has had a cold and cough, I was looking forward to this appointment. Dr. Sufi said that Zachary's lungs sounded "junky". Thinks it is most likely viral on how everything looked. He does want us to add albuterol treatments back into the daily medication grind in addition to the pulmicort treatments that we already do, but just til the congestion is better.

The next visit was with the ENT, Dr. Trigg. This was a follow up from the recent ear infection Zachary had and the continued inflammation that Dr. Trigg saw 2 weeks ago. He saw today that the right tube (the ear infection side) is coming out. He's not sure if it is due to junk being behind the tube and pushing on it or if it is just falling out. He wants to see us back in August which will be one year from the time that the tubes were placed. He is hoping that Zachary will do fine, even if the tube falls out. But if it appears he is having more trouble or having more infections, we may have to think about another surgery for new tubes. Oh fun!

We are looking forward to Zachary's first birthday party this weekend! Stay tuned for all the fun details. Hard to believe our baby is 1!!
